More Stuff in One Weekend...

I think all I have to say at this point is - wow.

I'll have pictures in /photos early tomorrow, but what I can tell you right now is that this year was a freaking banner Halloween.

We started the weekend on Staten Island, and the Famous Deaths Party (come as your favorite dead celebrity and their death) was as amazing as promised, with some killer costumes including Mama Cass, 2 female Jesuses (complete with stigmata, crowns of thorns, and cross,) cleopatra, our Sid & Nancy, and more. It was hillarious and I think it's pretty safe to say that a good time was had by all, including two of the fellows from my work. They really seemed to enjoy the party and got along with the Wagner kids famously.

We made it back to Astoria at a respectable party hour (4ish) and slept for a while, and even got some shopping and laundry done while getting ready for round 2!

Mortials, Nepthys, and Tearsong arrived around 7-8 and we got to Batcave with plenty of time to see the show. The Last Dance was pretty great and The Cruxshadows put on a hell of a show. It was weird to be at the club and feel for once like a regular in a sea of tourists... The vibe on the floor was a little strange, but not all-together bad, and once you got out there it was decent. We even got to see Fleur, who we haven't gotten a chance to see since before M&N graduated. Again, we got home before the sun came up and slept a bit.

Sunday, Mortalis had to drive back to Kentucky, and Nep and Tearsong had trains to catch, so we all disperesed by around 10:30am, and I amazingly felt like doing some work in the new apartment. I got the old nasty tile and subfloor pulled up and was just starting to fix the edge where the subfloor was stuck under the existing cabinets when my phone rang! Our good friends from work wanted to hang out and find some food, and we jumped at the chance to see them and our stomachs thanked us for putting something in to counter the effects of two consecutive nights spent partying.

The Bohemian Beer Garden was pretty cool once again, and the freakishly warm november air only turned chilly near the end of our stay there. Oddly, I'd say it's warmer now at 1:30 AM than it was then. Regardless, the Kielbasa was fantastic, and our friends seemed pretty happy with their Hungarian Goulash and Potato Pancakes. We retured to the Apartment for some scrabble time, and then called it quits.

One would think the weekend ended there, but no! For some reason I got a huge second wind (or third? or fourth?) and decided to go finish up the floor in the kitchen. I wasn't able to do the whole thing (who knew you had to let tile adhesive set up like rubber cement?) but I've got half the adhesive down, just waiting for tile to be cut and placed. I'll do the other half tomorrow, and that's a HUGE chunk of the work that needs to be done in there taken care of.

Now, I can officially say that I'm knackered and in bad need of sleep! As if anyone reading this long-winded entry couldn't figure that out.

Big hugs to Nepthys and Mortails! Thanks for making the huge trip out - it was fantastic!
