FlashMob #6 (photos)

Well, Thanks to the email connections of Sara's friends (THANKS!!) I've officially moved from blogger to moblogger (flashmob weblogger)... We participated in our first flash mob tonight. It was, for lack of a better description, freaking fantastic.

Imagine you're a shopper, casually strolling through the HUGE toys r' us in times square. Suddenly, from seemingly out of nowhere, 600ish people materialize and then drop to their knees, cowering front of the giant animatronic T-REX.... They pray to the lizard, and scream in terror, arms outstrectched, as it roars.

Security is confused. They get to use words like "Be Advised!!!" and "A serious situation" over walkie talkies... It's the best day of their career.

Scared and not knowing what to do - they shut the TRex off. The mob suddenly stands, and begins to disperse. One of the cashiers asks "who are you people? where did you come from?"... I may be wrong, but the only other time i've heard that question, it was directed at a superhero. I reply, lamely and yet confoundingly, "I dunno, what? what do you mean?"

Minutes later, the crowd is gone, after some slight bottlenecking at the escalators. Security again has control of the premisis, we're doing as requested... Leaving.

The whole thing takes 30 minutes, is fun for all, and leaves a cadre of staff people completely baffled... At least they've all got a story to tell their friends tonight.

Sheer brilliance.

Pictures to follow tomorrow (they're up here)when i can get to my smartmedia reader, but see what the real mobloggers have got up tonight
